The Temple of Peace Ashram in Lakewood, Colorado was founded as part of the Kriya Yoga International Organization (KYIO) to serve sincere spiritual seekers in the Rocky Mountain region. It is rooted in the ancient Kriya Yoga lineage passed down from Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj through generations of realized teachers, and in modern times was shaped by Paramahamsa Hariharananda, the founder of KYIO. Under the guidance of his spiritual successor Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, the Temple of Peace was established as a sanctuary of meditation, contemplation, study, and selfless service, dedicated to fostering inner peace, compassion, and spiritual growth for all who come, regardless of background.
