IMG_90392183644074On October 3-5, 2014, the Temple of Peace held a blessed Inauguration Event at our new property in Lakewood, Colorado. It was attended by our beloved Guruji, Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, many divine monks and teachers, and over 150 Kriyavans from around the world. Local friends and family also shared in the celebration during discourses and the public program.

The event began on Friday, October 3rd. This auspicious day, Vijayadashami, symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and was chosen by Guruji, Baba Prajananandaji, as the day to inaugurate the Temple of Peace / Rocky Mountain Ashram.  The program began with a fire ceremony, during which the five principal deities were invoked and worshiped externally through ritual and internally as presiding deities corresponding to each of the chakras (energy centers) on our spine.  During the fire ceremony oblations are offered in the form of Ghee (clarified butter) to the principle deities, their consorts, and to the nine planets. Fire symbolizes many things, among them are purity and illumination/brilliance.  The purpose of invoking the deities is so that they may bless, purify, and sanctify the ashram and all those present. The ceremony concluded with the sprinkling of holy water on all and around the premises of the ashram for purity.

The event also included a public program – Practical Peace: How Individuals Promote Peace.  This program incorporated speakers from throughout the community including Habitat for Humanity, Animal Assisted Therapy of Colorado, Dr. Olixn Adams, Professor Ved P. Nanda of the University of Denver, and Swami Atmavidyananda Giri. These beautiful speakers discussed how their work promotes peace. The program culminated with an inspiring talk by Paramahamsa Prajnanananda.
